Text 20 Jan 4 notes HALP. We have to fix this.

Have you ever watched a news segment on a topic that is within your profession or expertise? Don’t they always get it wrong or skew things in a way that exposes the fact that the people reporting have no idea what they’re reporting on? Then you stop and think, “wait, if they get something I know about wrong, there must be an equal amount of wrongness on every other topic they cover.” That’s the problem with Congress.

When congress threatens the internet, as is the case with SOPA and PIPA, the internet rallied. The problem doesn’t stop there, though. Congress gets it wrong everywhere else as well, we just don’t mobilize the way we did with SOPA/PIPA.

Congress got SOPA/PIPA wrong because the only voice they hear are corporate lobbyists because they have the most money. But, this is the case for every other important issue like, say, health care or financial industry reform. The legitimate interests of the people can’t stand up to the power and influence that corporations hold over our legislative process.

Ideas?
